Out of a total of roughly $3.5 billion in stimulus funds for DHS, here are some spending totals by component: TSA: $1 billion, CBP: $980 million, New DHS HQ: $650 million, FEMA: $615 million+, USCG: $240 million, and ICE: $20 million. But note that $750 million of the money for CBP and the new DHS HQ will go to GSA, not do DHS directly.

From Government Security News: President Obama’s radio and Internet address Jan 24 specifically mentioned strengthening security at the nation’s seaports and improving first responder communications as areas targeted by the economic recovery plan – and thus likely to receive federal funding in the short term.

In a briefing for lawmakers and staff on Tuesday, the Government Accountability Office estimated the cost of the Homeland Security Department’s program to equip ports of entry with radiation detection equipment will be $3.1 billion. That’s $1 billion more than the agency told the White House and Congress it would cost last spring.
